Some rough news coming out of Oregon.
Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen's daughter was born early last week after Sonnen's wife, Brittany, contracted listeria. The illness was unfortunately passed down to the couple's daughter, who was born over two months premature.
The CDC describes listeria "a serious infection usually caused by eating food contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, is an important public health problem in the United States. The disease primarily affects older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and adults with weakened immune systems. However, rarely, persons without these risk factors can also be affected. The risk may be reduced by following recommendations for safe food preparation, consumption, and storage."
Sonnen told Fightful.com that their daughter, Blauna Dian has a fight on her hands. Chael and Brittany also have a son, Thero.
