Chris Jericho Challenges Kenny Omega For The IWGP United States Title At WrestleKingdom 12

All that Twitter beefing paid off in a way no one could have possibly imagined.

Chris Jericho appeared via video after Kenny Omega successfully defeated Baretta to retain the IWGP United States championship at Power Struggle. Omega cut a promo after the match, saying that he would wait for someone to come out and challenge him for the title. When no one came, Omega said his catch phrase and prepared to leave when a video started to play.

After a mysterious video and some smoke, it ended up being Chris Jericho. People gasped in the audience as Chris Jericho ran down Omega, calling himself the Alpha of pro wrestling. He wanted to prove that he was the best in the world, and challenged him for the United States title at the Tokyo Dome on January 4.

This comes as a shock, as Chris Jericho has never appeared for another promotion since joining WWE in 1999. This also brings Jericho's contract and status with WWE in question and how he'd be able to pull off something like this. He hasn't been seen on WWE television since July 25, when he took part in a triple threat match against AJ Styles and Kevin Owens for the United States title.
