Chris Jericho Says Vince McMahon Shot Down Mayweather vs. Jericho Match

The world saw Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor, but it just missed out on Mayweather vs. Chris Jericho, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.

The former WCW, WWE and World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho appeared on Busted Open Radio Wednesday and revealed that in the summer of 2009, he pitched the idea of facing Floyd Mayweather to Vince McMahon. On the show, he went into detail about how his plan went awry.

"I was like, 'How could I have forgotten about this?' I text that picture to Vince and I'm like, 'Why didn't you book Mayweather vs. Jericho? We could've made $700 million!' What a missed opportunity. With him, you never pitch ideas when he's hungry. You never pitch ideas when he's in the room with somebody else.

When I went to pitch it to Vince I read the room wrong and made some mistakes. Not only was there somebody else in the room, but he was also hungry and eating. It just led to this whole deck of cards falling, where had I pitched it under the rules of knowing my audience, I could have got it through."

Floyd Mayweather appeared on a 2009 episode of Monday Night Raw as a guest host where he had a confrontation with Jericho and former rival Big Show. He'd never go on to do a pro wrestling match again.
