Colin Delaney Talks About His Return, Getting Squashed By The Bludgeon Brothers

Colin Delaney was back...at least for one night.

The former ECW Superstar was part of a tag team last night facing against the Bludgeon Brothers. He took the fall with the double crucifix chokeslam. He talked to WWE.com about the experience:

AEW Dynamite (4/24/24) Results: Jon Moxley vs. Powerhouse Hobbs, Swerve Strickland Competes, More

Delaney is most remembered for his run in ECW from 2007-2008. Originally starting out as just a jobber, be gained somewhat of a following by taking a beating over and over each week against the likes of Mark Henry, Kane and The Great Khali. After getting an ECW contract by defeating Armando Estrada, he continued to be part of the ECW roster before turning heel and facing mentor Tommy Dreamer. Once he lost that feud, he was released in the summer of 2008.

Delaney's story mirrors that of James Ellsworth. The same pattern of booking -- a jobber becoming a WWE star, gaining a cult following, then turning heel before being released -- is his story as well. Ellsworth was released last month following the conclusion of his storyline with Carmella, where he was written out after a number of women beat him up.
