Conor McGregor Not Obligated To Wear Reebok Gear At Super Fight

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor is forced to wear Reebok gear whenever he competes inside of the Octagon. However, when it comes to the super fight against Floyd Mayweather, the fighter doesn’t need to represent the athletic wear company.

“He’s currently a free agent with regard to athletic apparel,” McGregor’s manager in Audie Attar said on The MMA Hour. “We’re still in discussions with Reebok and other brands. It’s definitely a great opportunity for Conor and any brand we decide to align with.”

There is currently no official sponsorship deal set yet for McGregor in this fight, as his team is currently negotiating with multiple companies.

Although Reebok is not signed with McGregor for this super fight, the Irishman’s manager won’t rule them out come August. It is also unknown at this time, since McGregor is a free agent with Reebok, if the fight would be wearing the company's gear if he returns to the UFC.

“There’s a lot of open categories that we’ve been negotiating with brands, including Reebok,” Attar said. “We’ll see how that all plays out.”

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
