UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor made his professional boxing debut this past August, suffering a tenth round TKO loss to Floyd Mayweather.
Mayweather recently posted a video of himself inside of an MMA cage, but McGregor believes Mayweather would be haunted for the rest of the boxer’s life if no UFC fight comes about.
“If it is [for publicity], it will follow him for the rest of his days,” McGregor said to Adam Glyn. “If it is, it will follow him for the rest of his days that he did not do it. I said I would do it, and I stepped up and I done it. His time now. His go now.”
Tony Ferguson is the UFC Interim Lightweight Champion and he is set to face Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 223.
McGregor is reportedly planning for a UFC return and the champion has his eyes set on the competitors in that UFC 223 main event or even Nate Diaz.
“There’s the current interim lightweight champion, there’s an undefeated Dagistani, there may be a big Russian event. There’s obviously the Diaz trilogy, of course the Mayweather fight is there. We’re just at the table at the moment. Times is good, life is good,” says McGregor.
Diaz and McGregor last fought at UFC 202, where McGregor picked up a decision win over the Stockton native.
