Dana White Gets Promoter's License For “Contenders Series”

MMA

July 11 will see the debut on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Since the events aren’t going to be held under the UFC banner, a promoter's license was needed.

That is exactly what UFC President Dana White did, as the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) granted White a license to promote events in the state.

The idea behind the series is to air five bouts live every Tuesday Night on UFC Fight Pass, with the promotion serving as a feeder league to the UFC.

Although no fights have been made official yet, the rumored main event for the first show will pit current Titan Fighting Championships Featherweight Champion Kurt Holobaugh against current CES MMA Featherweight Champion Matt Bessette.

Another reason that a license was needed by White is due to the fact that the fighters appearing on the “Contender Series” will have a different contract status compared to UFC fighters.

Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series debuts on Tuesday, July 11 from the UFC Gym in Las Vegas, Nevada with no fights made official at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
