Dana White Says Conor McGregor Is Pound For Pound Best, Not Demetrious Johnson

UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson isn’t too happy with the promotion right now, recently releasing a lengthy statement about his issues with the company.

Things aren’t going to get much better between the two after UFC President Dana White stated that Conor McGregor is the pound for pound best MMA fighter, not “Mighty Mouse.”

“The media claims he’s the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. I think Conor McGregor is the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world,” White said to TMZ Sports.

It's worth noting that White openly stated he considered Johnson the best fighter in the world months ago.

McGregor is only one of a handful of fighters to hold two belts in two different weight classes in the UFC, but he hasn’t stepped into the Octagon since UFC 205.

White took things a step further with his criticism of the flyweight champion, stating that his pay-per-views are the least watched in company history.

“He didn’t want Pay-Per-View. He wanted upfront money, no Pay-Per-View,” White claimed. “He wasn’t very confident in his abilities to sell Pay-Per-Views. He has the lowest-selling Pay-Per-View in the history of the UFC in the modern era.”

Johnson has stepped into the Octagon since UFC On Fox 24, where he successfully defended the gold against Wilson Reis. The champion is also one successful title defense away from breaking the consecutive title defense record, which was held by former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.
