UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov are battling for the undisputed lightweight title in the main event of UFC 223.

Dana White is the UFC President and he claims that UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor understands the situation surrounding the UFC 223 main event.

“Is he upset? No, Conor understands,” White said to TMZ Sports. “Conor made a lot of money, he wants some time off, but the division has to go on and the business has to go on.”

Rumors have been persisting that McGregor would be stripped of his title leading into the event, but nothing has been announced at this time.

White would even go as far as to say that the UFC Lightweight Champion may never step into the Octagon ever again.

“It was August and now it’s September,” White said. “I say it all the time, when you get that kind of money… Conor might never come back. It’s a lot of money.”

However, after White made these statements to TMZ Sports, a confident McGregor took to Instagram to state that he is going to fight again, but never mentioned any other details beyond that.
