Dana White Says Johnson vs. Dillashaw Happening

A potential champion versus champion super fight could be coming in 2018 as UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson and UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw may be colliding in the Octagon.

UFC President Dana White said the super fight is definitely happening, but didn’t provide a date.

“No, that fight’s gonna happen,” White said after UFC 218. “Yeah, that fight will happen.”

Johnson and Dillashaw were linked together before, but Johnson opted out of the fight to defend his title against Ray Borg at UFC 216. Johnson would walk away victorious on that night and break the record for most consecutive title defenses in the UFC, which was previously held by former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.

Dillashaw recently became a two time UFC Bantamweight Champion after defeating Cody Garbrandt in the co-main event of UFC 217. After the fight, the newly crowned champion again called out the flyweight kingpin, which reignited talk of the bout happening.

If the fight finally does come together, it would be one of a few rare champion versus champion bouts to happen in the UFC. Despite the potential bout being a champion versus champion fight, the UFC Flyweight Title would be the only title on the line in the contest.
