Dana White Stopping Amanda Nunes Double Title Talk

MMA

Amanda Nunes recently stated that she wants to hold two titles in the UFC, as she is the current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion and wants a shot UFC Women’s Featherweight Title as well. UFC President Dana White has other plans for Nunes.

“Pump the brakes,” he said to MMA Junkie. “Pump the brakes. Let’s defend the title first. You know what I mean? Let her defend her title first. She hasn’t defended her title. Everybody wants to jump around these days. We need to start pumping the brakes around here.”

Even though Nunes has actually defended her title, White reiterated that he never wanted to start a women’s featherweight division in the first place.

“This whole time, I didn’t want to do it,” said White. “I did it. And now here we are in this position, so we’ll see what happens.”

Shevchenko and Nunes have collided before, with Nunes earning a close decision win in early 2016. Nunes has since gone onto win the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, last defeating former champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 207.

Shevchenko has won three of four fights under the UFC banner, having already defeated Julianna Pena, Sarah Kaufman and Holly Holm, with that lone defeat again coming to Nunes.
