UFC President Dana White is coming off of an extremely busy UFC International Fight Week, which included a pair of live events in the UFC Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale and UFC 213.

When it comes to the future of the lightweight division, the UFC President has a specific fight that he would like to see happen next.

“I actually still want to see Khabib vs. Tony,” White said after UFC 213. “It doesn’t have to happen first, but I’d kind of like to see it.”

Tony Ferguson hasn’t competed since defeating former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 98, while Khabib Nuramgomedov hasn’t fought since defeating Michael Johnson at UFC 205.

If Nurmagomedov in unable to fight Ferguson, then the UFC President also has a former champion in mind to fight Ferguson.

“I know that Khabib is set up to come to Las Vegas and go to the (UFC) Performance Institute and work with the nutritionists there and therapists. But if he’s not ready to fight, I’d go Gaethje and Tony,” says White.

Justin Gaethje is a former World Series Of Fighting Lightweight Champion and he just made his UFC debut at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale, defeating Michael Johnson.
