Daniel Bryan Still Thinks He Can Wrestle

Daniel Bryan still thinks that he can wrestle, despite his medical situation.

The SmackDown Live General Manager and Cruiserweight Classic color commentator talked to Channel Guide Magazine. In the interview, he was not coy about his health in relation to the squared circle.

“I still feel like I can wrestle,” Bryan said.

Bryan retired from in ring competition Feb. 8 due to of medical reasons. The 35 year old, Aberdeen, Washington native sustained 10 documented concussions during his pro wrestling career, and has experienced post-concussion seizures.

It’s no secret that Bryan wants to wrestle again. On the Aug. 23 episode of Talking Smack, a SmackDown Live post show on WWE Network, Bryan and Intercontinental Champion The Miz got in a heated argument, with Bryan eventually saying if the WWE would medically clear him, he would return to in ring action.

But life outside the squared circle has its pros and cons.

“Being out there and watching other people wrestle, it hurts my soul a little bit. But it’s also crazy because doing stuff like the Cruiserweight Classic for example you get to see guys go out there and have these incredible experiences. You get to be in the crowd,” Bryan said.

With injury forcing out of action, he has embraced his new roles as GM and commentator. Bryan can now “learn something new "about an industry and profession that has become his life's work.

“When we are doing the commentary you feel it in the crowd where we are broadcasting on this platform. I love the feeling and that energy. So even though I miss being in the ring, when I am ringside, I love feeling that energy of being there. To me, there is nothing in this world like being at a live wrestling show. It’s just really cool.”
