Former WWE Intercontinental and United States Champion Santino Marella will be returning to the ring on August 27th. PWInsider reports that he will be teaming with Alberto El Patron at a Destiny Wrestling event in Toronto.
Marella, whose real name is Anthony Carelli, retired from the ring in 2014 due to neck issues. He was released from WWE in May 2016 and has been working for Canadian Television as well as running his Battle Arts Professional Wrestling Academy in Toronto.
Last month, there was a six-man tag match won by a team from Destiny Wrestling over Battle Arts Pro Wrestling, with the stipulation being that if Destiny won, Marella would have to come out of retirement and compete for the Destiny brand.
Marella retired back in 2014 due to neck issues, and was released in May of 2016; he has been running the Battlarts Wrestling Academy in Toronto since then.
