"First off, Life is a precious thing. I saved a life today and I am grateful I was able to do so.  When driving up 16th Avenue past Bowness road in Calgary, I saw a girl crying and hanging off the bridge with someone trying to talk to her. I stopped and jumped the barricade and tried talking to the girl. She was crying and an emotional mess and threatening to jump if I got closer. With people on the ground waving her not to jump I decided to grab a hold of her and not take any chances," wrote Smith.

Besides his training in professional wrestling, Smith has training in catch wrestling, mixed-martial-arts, and has competed in no-gi grappling tournaments. Smith said he used his training in saving the woman and controlling her until police arrived.

"When I yanked her off the bridge finally, I established the mount position as you do in Grappling and did not let her budge. She also said she had a gun too. She was crying and said she just wanted a hug. But as much as I wanted to hug her I told her I couldn't hug her because she said she had a gun. And then she squirmed and demanded I get off her. I told her “Miss your not going to move unless I want you to, I’m an expert grappler and you're not going to shoot me," wrote Smith.

According to Smith, the woman was arrested but in order to get her help which Smith says she needed. He also stated he believes none of the other people present could have helped in the way he did.

Smith currently wrestles for New Japan Pro Wrestling and competed at NJPW's and Ring of Honor's Global Wars.
