MMA Fighting first reported the story.

Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren says he is excited that the UFC veteran is heading to the promotion.

“We are thrilled to welcome ‘Goyito’ Pérez, the top Mexican fighter in the sport of MMA, and look forward to having him compete in La Jaula,” McLaren said.

Perez earned a record of 7-2-0 in the UFC (17-6-0 overall) and he leaves the promotion on the strength of a three fight winning streak.

The fighter’s seven wins in the UFC came over John Albert, Ken Stone, Byron Bloodworth, Edwin Figueroa, Taylor Lapilus, Francisco Rivera and Felipe Aarantes. The fighter last competed at UFC Fight Night 98, defeating the aforementioned Arantes by split decision.

Although the fighter’s promotional debut has yet to be officially announced, MMA Fighting states that he is expected to debut in January. Reports also suggest that the winner of the upcoming 8 man tournament could be Perez’s first opponent as well.
