EXCLUSIVE: Vince Russo Discusses "Beginning Of The End" For Dixie Carter

Vince Russo has criticism for Dixie Carter's decision to send Paul Heyman to Spike Television.

On Fightful Wrestling's podcast The List and Ya Boy, Vince Russo shared his feelings about Paul Heyman visiting with Spike Television executives during Russo's time at TNA. He claims he was trying to recruit Heyman to join the promotion. At the time, Dixie Carter was supposed to meet with executives of the broadcast partner of TNA. Somehow, Heyman went to the meeting alone and Russo knew it would not turn out well for Carter.

"Let me tell you something. That was the beginning of the end for Dixie Carter and I'll tell you why. I was having conversations with Paul Heyman. I was a writer and I suggested to Dixie 'let's try to get Paul Heyman here, he can help us.' I reached out to him. I had phone conversations with him. Finally, bro, I brought Paul Heyman to Dixie Carter," said Russo.

Apparently, Carter loved Heyman and set up a meeting with Spike Television. Russo said when he found out Heyman would be meeting with executives alone, he knew Carter's days were numbered at TNA.

"As soon as I heard Paul Heyman was going to be alone with the Spike freaking executives. I knew that was the freaking beginning of the end. Because Spike did not think highly of Dixie Carter. They did not respect Dixie Carter. Paul was going to go in there by himself, tell them all the things Dixie was doing wrong and what he would do, totally work circles around the Spike executives, and bury Dixie and bury TNA," said Russo.

According to Russo, he tried to warn Carter but she fell victim to her own naivety. He also said it was obvious Heyman would use the meeting for his own advantage. In 2014, Russo left TNA and Spike Television declined TNA for renewal on their network. Carter would stay with TNA until early 2017.

Russo and other professional wrestling personalities appear weekly on The List and Ya Boy which airs Wednesdays at FightfulPods.com
