Floyd Mayweather Jr. Says Conor McGregor’s The Second Biggest Name In MMA

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor have yet to sign on the dotted line for the potential super fight, but that hasn’t stopped the trash talking.

Mayweather Jr. recently spoke with TMZ Sports, where he declared that the UFC fighter isn’t even the biggest MMA name of them all.

“Conor McGregor is the 2nd biggest name in MMA. So, I’m not gonna sit right here and knock Conor McGregor. He’s gone out there and done what he’s had to do. It’s obvious he’s done something right thus far to get to the point where he’s at,” says Mayweather Jr.

The legendary boxer doesn’t state who the biggest name in MMA is, but he once called himself the “face of MMA.”

If the fight ever does come together, the boxer does admit that age could play a factor in how things turn out.

“I’ve been off for a couple years and I’m 40 years old now. So, I’m a lot older and he’s still in his 20s and I’m in my 40s now. So that could play a major key, we don’t know. And he’s a heavy hitter. … Every time he goes out there and defeats fighters, he’s standing up. He’s in a boxing position and he’s beating fighters. Does he have a good chance of upsetting Floyd Mayweather? I can’t say, but anything can happen in the sport of boxing,” says Mayweather Jr.

It seems much like the talk about who would win the potential super fight will never end, much like the trash talking between the two competitors.
