Former WWE Tag Champ Hospitalized; ECW Original Has Surgery

Former WWE Tag Team Champion Fred Ottman, who has performed as Typhoon, Tugboat, and--perhaps most famously--The Shockmaster, was hospitalized on Tuesday morning in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Ottman's wife Sheila wrote on Facebook that he was very sick and that the infection he had was very scary. She then posted an update early Wednesday morning that Fred was alert and talking. She wrote that although he is still very weak and he is expected to make a full recovery. Fans who want to drop Tugboat a letter or card can mail it to:

Ottman has been rumored as a possible inductee for the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame class with the late John Tenta (Earthquake). The duo held the WWE Tag Team Titles together as The Natural Disasters when Ottman was doing his "Typhoon" gimmick.

In related news, ECW fan favorite Sandman had successful knee surgery this week. How successful? Well, according to his Twitter, he was playing golf in his driveway not 24 hours later.

Sandman also tweeted a photo of himself just before going under the knife:

Same old Sandman. Never change.
