Holly Holm Says McGregor vs. Mayweather Was Stopped Early

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm had a successful professional boxing career before jumping to MMA.

When it comes to “The Money Fight” between UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, the female fighting star says the fight was stopped too early.

“You don’t see McGregor arguing it was stopped, but I thought though the ref jumped in a little early, yeah,” Holm said on The MMA Hour. “It’s not like he was out on his feet or about to get knocked out, or something like that. He wasn’t going in there to counter or anything. It was definitely an early stoppage for sure.”

McGregor lasted ten rounds with Mayweather before the referee stepped in to stop the fight and award Mayweather a TKO win.

Holm was glad the fight came together in the end because she is a fan of both McGregor and Mayweather.

“I’m kind of glad it came together like that because I’ve always been a fan of both, obviously,” Holm said. “It’s like, there’s that battle between boxing and MMA and I’m like, no, boxers are into boxing because that’s what they’re passionate about. And MMA fighters are into MMA because that’s what they’re passionate about. That’s the only thing. I don’t know why there’s always this kind of fight about it.”

During her time as a pro boxer, the former UFC Women’s bantamweight Champion earned a record of 33-2-3 and she held a plethora of titles.
