Holly Holm Says She’s Still In The Mix

Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm hasn’t earned a victory since UFC 193, which took place well over a year ago.

Despite being on a three fight losing skid, the former champion says she is still in the mix with the division's elite.

“Absolutely, I still feel like I’m in the mix,” Holm said on The MMA Hour. “I still feel like I’m competitive and up in the top, so you never know when that next opportunity can come.”

Holm’s next fight will come against former women’s bantamweight title challenger Bethe Correia in the main event of UFC Fight Night 111.

Correia has been calling Holm overrated amongst other things in recent interviews and the former champion says the Brazilian is allowed to have her opinions.

“She’s entitled to her own opinion.” Holm explained. “It really doesn’t do anything to me it doesn't affect me. There’s a lot of people that sit here and judge, but I work hard and I’m going to work hard just for her I know that she’s tough, that she doesn’t really stop for anything, so I definitely want to be technical in this fight and I don’t want to be messy. She does use her jab and moves around a little bit, but she can definitely be a scrappy style as well. I don’t want make the fight look messy, I want to be a good, technical fighter. I want to be able to implement all my techniques, I want to be able to capitalize on a lot of things, and that’s my plan.”

UFC Fight Night 111 takes place on Saturday, June 17 from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore with Bethe Correia and Holly Holm headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on UFC Fight Pass.
