The pro wrestling connection here is with Diamond Dallas Page. He's been using the hand sign for decades as well, as he calls it the Diamond Cutter sign. He and Jay-Z went to court in 2005 over the matter, which was eventually settled out of court two years later.

DDP isn't able to say a lot about the Jay Z "hand gesture" situation outside of that that situation is resolved and that Jay-Z is a mogul who can do what he wants. However, TMZ didn't contact DDP about whether or not he had papers or not, which prompted this tweet:

Jay-Z is one of the biggest rap artists in the world and one of the best selling musicans of all time. Diamond Dallas Page has largely retired since 2005, but has started a successful career as yoga instructor and has developed a yoga fitness program that does use the diamond cutter symbol.
