Jeremy Kennedy Explains Gray Maynard Call Out

MMA

Featherweight competitor Jeremy Kennedy earned a unanimous decision win over Kyle Bochniak on the preliminary card of UFC On Fox 25.

After the fight, the undefeated prospect called out Gray Maynard and he has a solid reason as to why he made such a call out.

“Everyone knows who Gray Maynard is,” Kennedy said after the event. “He’s coming off a win. He’s right out there, you know, outside of the top-15 – if not, right around there. I’m looking to break into the top-15. He just fought (earlier this month at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale). I think around the same timeline, it just makes the most sense that way. But, really, anybody that – I want a guy that has a name. I can tell people, ‘Hey, I’m fighting this guy and they know’ instead of me having to explain it or whatever. I’m in the UFC now. I want to keep fighting these name guys. If they’re in the top 15, even better. But I want them coming off of a win.”

Maynard lost competed at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale, defeating Teruto Ishihara by unanimous decision.

If Maynard does agree to the challenge, then Kennedy wouldn’t mind having the fight take place at UFC 216.

“It’s a little close, but I’m healthy,” Kennedy said. “It’s a Canadian card. Makes sense. If he’s ready, I’m ready.”

There is no doubt that if Maynard does accept the challenge, then he would be the highest profile opponent that Kennedy has faced in his professional MMA career.
