Jerry Lawler Says Jeff Jarrett Contacted Him To Work For IMPACT Wrestling

Jerry Lawler says that Jeff Jarrett once reached out to him asked if he'd be interested in becoming part of the new Anthem reboot of TNA Impact.

There was a time when Lawler had been taken off the pre-shows for WWE events and was only operating on a Legends Contract. This was before he signed a new deal that gave him additional duties with the company, and it was then that Lawler says Jarrett contacted him.

Speaking on the newest episode of his podcast, "Dinner With The King," Lawler said:

"During that time, I did get a call from Jeff Jarrett just saying, ‘Hey, we were just wondering if you re-signed with the WWE or not?’ It was one of those things that I got right back to him and said I did re-sign with (WWE)."

Lawler says that he believes that Jarrett had the idea to reunite Lawler with his longtime WWE broadcast partner Jim Ross. "Without a doubt, I’m sure that’s what was in their minds and it was possibly in the mind of JR’s as well.”

JR has said that he was in early negotiations to be the play-by-play voice for Slammiversary XV, before he came back to call the Roman Reigns vs Undertaker match at WrestleMania 33.
