Jim Ross says WWE Battleground faced multiple challenges.
On Sunday after WWE Battleground, social media was filled with reactions to the pay-per-view. The event featured two title changes, a flag match, and a Punjabi Prison match. In his blog, Jim Ross discussed the pay-per-view and the "outspoken fans" of WWE.
"Lots of feedback coming in on social media, i.e. @JRsBBQ on Twitter, regarding Sunday night's WWE presentation of Battleground. Not many entities have more passionate and outspoken fans than pro wrestling headed by the biggest dog in the yard, WWE," wrote Ross.
The fan's reactions prompted Ross to say he hopes fans worry about their lives more than professional wrestling. Ross did admit he tends to be very passionate about professional wrestling and suggests he might be the proverbial "pot calling the kettle black." He went on to point out some things from WWE Battleground he saw as problematic.
"Any time two major, main event level matches have little to no 'near falls' included due to the structure of their match i.e. the Punjabi Prison bout and the Flag Match, it's a risky premise. I'm still not sure that I could pass a quiz on the rules of the Punjabi Prison match which had challenging sight lines for TV through all the bamboo, etc. Those basic challenges can make it hard for the live audience to emotionally invest," wrote Ross.
The women's number one contender's match and the United States Championship match also were written about by Ross. But, the end of the main event was not mentioned in his blog. He said he prefers not to speculate about on-going storylines before the full revelation.
