Jim Ross Says Bray Wyatt Is 'A Significant Character Babyface In The Making'

The Wyatt Family is getting along just fine, according to Jim Ross.

On Sunday, the Smackdown roster competed at WWE Elimination Chamber. The remaining members of the Wyatt Family were featured in two of the biggest matches. Luke Harper and Randy Orton engaged in family rivalry and faced each other. Bray Wyatt competed in the Elimination Chamber with five other wrestlers for John Cena's WWE Championship. Jim Ross wrote about the event in his blog and said Harper and Wyatt stood out.

"I thought Luke Harper had the performance of the night as his match with Randy Orton was outstanding. I said here months ago that Harper was underutilized and could be a much bigger talent for WWE than he has been. It looks like WWE agrees," wrote Ross.

Wyatt would win the championship after pinning Cena and AJ Styles. It was his first championship in WWE besides sharing the tag-team titles via The Freebirds rule since joining the WWE system in 2009. Ross is excited about the prospect of a champion Wyatt and thinks he can make it as a fan favorite.

"The Elimination Chamber was well booked and the talents sacrificed their own health to present a great main event. Bray Wyatt winning the WWE Title was strategic for sure. Wyatt is a significant, character baby face in the making IMO and the fans at the live events in the arenas seem to agree. The entertaining and memorable Fire Fly entrance is pure 'face and let's not forget that Wyatt's grandfather, Blackjack Mulligan was one of the great character 'faces of all time as was Bray's mentor Dusty Rhodes. Bray has worked hard on his in ring game, promos and his physique and conditioning which is admirable. He hasn't been afraid to try new material and he doesn't have the same match every outing on TV as many of his peers often times do. Bray Wyatt is a timeless talent who would be a star in any era that I have been a part of the past 40 years,"  wrote Ross.

Wyatt defended his championship on Tuesday's episode of Smackdown and will go onto Wrestlemania 33. Tradition would dictate that his Wrestlemania opponent would be the Royal Rumble winner, but Randy Orton said he does not wish to wrestle Wyatt.

Ross also discussed commentating for What Culture Pro Wrestling and speaking with UFC commentator Todd Grisham.
