Jinder Mahal still has his sights set on regaining the WWE Title.
For six months of 2017, WWE fans lived in the era of the "Modern-Day Maharajah" as Jinder Mahal was in possession of the WWE Championship. In November of 2017, Mahal would lose his precious prize to AJ Styles in Manchester, England. The following month Jinder Mahal walked into a highly anticipated match in India where he thought he'd be WWE Champion. That was not the case as he did not walk into his native India as champion, and he also lost his match against Triple H. Mahal has been in the mix of the WWE United States Title scene as of late, but he told the Indian Express that he is hopeful that one day he will defend the WWE Title in India.
"No, I was not disappointed at all because I had a huge match with Triple H. Stepping into the ring with a legend like Triple H is a once in a lifetime opportunity. But I look forward to defending the WWE Championship in India; something that has never been done before." Mahal revealed. "No Indian champion has defended his title in India. I will make that happen someday and I am working towards that goal. I am hungrier than before and I will make that a reality.
As noted above, Jinder Mahal has been involved in the United States Title picture which is currently occupied by champion Bobby Roode, and Randy Orton. Mahal feels that he has been slighted by GM Daniel Bryan and commissioner Shane McMahon, because he has stood tall over both Roode & Orton over the past few weeks and has not received his shot at Bobby Roode's title.
"I expect to be a WWE champion soon but right now I have my sights set on the U.S. Championship. Unfortunately, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon made a match at 'Fastlane' involving Bobby Roode and Randy Orton, but I should have been in that match. It was me that was standing tall over Orton and Roode for the past few weeks. But whether it is the U.S. Championship or the WWE title, I will be successful at whatever I choose to capture. My ultimate goal is to win every championship that it is possible in WWE.”
As Jinder stated, the WWE United States Championship will be defended at 'Fastlane'. Bobby Roode will defend his title against Randy Orton. There will be full coverage of the 'Fastlane' PPV and a post-show podcast here on Fightful.
