Johny Hendricks Wants Rematch With GSP

MMA

Former UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks made his middleweight division debut at UFC Fight Night 105, where he defeated former Bellator MMA Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard.

The middleweight now wants a rematch with former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre, who recently signed a new deal with the UFC.

“I would just say sorry for the Canadians,” Hendricks said to MMA Junkie. “I’m going to have to beat his face in, definitely if he comes to 185. Because that’s a fight that I’ve been really looking for. And now that I’ve got a win under my belt at 185, he’s a newcomer at 185.”

The two first met a few years back at UFC 167, where GSP successfully defended the UFC Welterweight Title over Hendricks. If a fight with the former welterweight champion doesn’t come to fruition, Hendricks knows where he wants to fight next.

“I’m hoping that I’m injury free enough,” he said. “I’m going to check on my hand. I think it’s a stinger. It still hurts. It feels like the little bones in between my bigger ones. If I had three months to fight in Dallas (UFC 211), that’s plenty of time, because I could get a strength and conditioning coach that can get me to where I need to be.”

Hendricks is also a former UFC Welterweight Champion, he defeated Robbie Lawler by decision to win the championship.
