The newly crowned champion recently appeared on Good Morning America and the champion admitted that he wants his life to be a testimony of how people with troubles can overcome them.

“I’m grateful for the good that came out of it. I feel like my life gets to be a testimony for other people who are struggling and hopefully my life inspires other people no matter how ugly things get at times,” Jones said on the show.

Jones has now defeated longtime rival Cormier twice now, with the other win coming by decision at UFC 182.

Speaking of his longtime rival, the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion wants them both to put their issues behind them.

“I know how important our fight was to him, it was a legacy fight, and I just didn’t want a win or a loss to determine his legacy. I wanted people to see him for the guy that he is outside of the Octagon, I think that’s equally as important. I wanted to shed some light on him and I think it was just,” says Jones.

Although he doesn’t have a title bout scheduled at the moment, the light heavyweight kingpin has been calling out former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar.
