The vacant Cage Warriors Heavyweight Title will get a new owner at Cage Warriors 89 as Karl Moore takes on Mauro Cerilli.
Moore (8-1-0) is currently the Cage Warriors Light Heavyweight Champion and if he wins the heavyweight gold against Cerilli, then he becomes the first fighter since Conor McGregor to hold two belts in two different weight classes in the promotion. Moore won the light heavyweight title at Cage Warriors 81, defeating Josh Clark by unanimous decision. Moore’s only defeat as a professional MMA fighter came to UFC veteran Paul Craig at BAMMA 22 in 2015.
Cerilli (10-2-0) is making his Cage Warriors debut in this fight and he is doing so on the strength of a three fight winning streak. Cerilli is also competing for his first professional MMA championship, while he has been a pro MMA fighter for over five years now. Cerilli is also coming off of a two fight run in the Magnum Fighting Championships, defeating the duo of Istvan Ruzsinszki and Lukasz Parobiec.
