Kevin Lee Wants Tony Ferguson Or Khabib Nurmagomedov Next

MMA

Kevin Lee is coming off of his first main event appearance for the UFC, as he defeated Michael Chiesa by submission at UFC Fight Night: Oklahoma City.

Now that the Chiesa victory is behind him, the lightweight star has a pair of lightweights he wouldn’t mind battling next.

"I’ve been trying to make this Khabib fight just because everybody thinks Khabib is such a monster, he’s all this and all that,” Lee said on The MMA Hour. "If they want to make the Tony fight happen, I’m cool with that. I thought that judging by the backstage and everything, I thought they would go with Tony and (Edson) Barboza, that’s why I was pushing for Khabib, but if they wanna do me and Tony, hell yeah, I’ll do it. I’ll step up. But I don’t think, in that same scenario, I think Khabib fights Barboza, you know what I mean? I’m trying to do what’s best for all parts here. So I think the best move is me and Khabib and they do Tony and Barboza. I really don’t see what the hold-up is.”

Neither Khabib Nurmagomedov or Tony Ferguson have a fight scheduled at the moment.

Lee also doesn’t like the way that the analysts at Fox Sports 1 handled the controversial ending of his main event bout with Chiesa.

"I think they kind of took away from me a little bit,” he said. "I was a little disappointed the way they kind of handled it, they kind of took away from the fight, from the win. 'KenFlo' was trying his best, even though I like Kenny Florian, I do, but I think he was trying his best to take away from the win. You know, what am I gonna do? They gonna hate regardless. Apparently, some people in the industry hate, so… I thought it was just the fans, but it is what it is."

While Lee doesn’t have another fight scheduled at the moment, whomever does fight him is taking on a competitor on a five fight winning streak.
