Ric Flair is in the hospital recovering from recent health issues that nearly cost "The Nature Boy" his life. In true Flair fashion, he pulled through, and will get to hear many of the memories shared about him over recent weeks.
One of those memories came from WWE Raw General Manager Kurt Angle, speaking to Newsday recently.. The former WWE, WCW, TNA, and Olympic Champion said that Flair actually helped spare him a WCW career in 1998.
"Ric was the guy that I got advice from before I started in the business. He’s the one that redirected me from [World Championship Wrestling] to WWE, told me Vince McMahon would know what to do with me, and said not to go to WCW.”
"What I learned from Ric was how to give to the business and not take. He always made sure his opponent looked better than he did. What was important to him was the match, not himself, and I took that advice and made sure when I performed in the ring I made my opponent looked better than me, and I made sure it was the best match I could possibly make it. He was a very giving wrestler, and I did the same because of Ric Flair.”
Angle would go on to experience one of the swiftest ascents in pro wrestling history, debuting on WWE main roster TV only 13 months after signing his WWE contract.
Melinda Morris Zanoni, Flair's manager, reported the news a couple of weeks ago that Flair was recovering. As Fightful.com reported, Flair suffered an infection and was placed into a medically induced coma earlier that week.
