Leandro Higo Replacing Darrion Caldwell At Bellator 177 In Title Fight

Darrion Caldwell has suffered an injury and he is off the Bellator 177 card, replacing him to challenge bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas will be Leandro Higo.

Dantas (19-4-0) will be making the second defense of his title and he last defended it against Joe Warren at Bellator 166. Dantas held the gold once before, defeating Zach Makovsky at Bellator 65, but he would then lose it to Joe Warren in their first meeting at Bellator 128. Dantas will be entering the fight on the strength of a three fight winning streak which has lasted nearly two years.

Higo (17-2-0) will be making his Bellator MMA debut in this fight and he is also the current Legacy Fighting Alliance Bantamweight Champion. Higo will also be entering the fight on the strength of an eight fight winning streak that lasted almost five years. Higo also holds a victory over UFC veteran Jose Maria Tomes, whom he defeated a Arena Fight 4 in January 2008.

Bellator 177 takes place on Friday, April 14 from the Budapest Sports Arena in Budapest, Hungary with Eduardo Dantas and Leandro Higo headlining. Fightful will be providing live coverage of the event.
