Manny Pacquiao Promises To Hurt Jeff Horn In Rematch Like He Did In The Ninth Round Of First Fight

Manny Pacquiao promises to hurt Jeff Horn from the beginning should the two of them meet in a rematch.

Pacquiao told the Manila Bulletin that he wants to get the upper hand in a rematch, which Pacquiao is trying to pursue in the wake of the controversial first fight. Horn defeated Pacquiao via unanimous decision to capture the WBO welterweight title in the main event of an ESPN-televised card that had done record viewership numbers for a boxing fight on cable.

The ninth round was a focal point in the match as Pacquiao dominated Horn, nearly knocking him down numerous times, prompting the referee to nearly stop the fight after the ninth round before Horn's corner convinced the referee to give him another chance to fight. Horn did just enough in the championship rounds afterwards for the judges to award Horn the win.

“I will remind him of the ninth round in the first round,” Pacquiao said.

Horn won the first round of the fight on all three judges' cards, but the final result left a lot of people from the boxing community, including members of ESPN's commentary team, to call the decision "a robbery."

Pacquiao had said that he wants a rematch, as there is a rematch clause in the fight contract, and talks are still ongoing to make a rematch official.
