UFC President Dana White appeared on ESPN's SportsCenter and said the fight will be contested at boxing's light middleweight division which is a 154-pound weight limit and both fighters will use 10 oz. gloves. The fight will be a 12-rounder, according to White.

"Well we have been in negotiations for a while now," White said. "To be honest, negotiations went smooth. Floyd is surrounded by smart people and we got this thing done. The impossible deal is now done."

Mayweather posted this picture below on his Instagram account confirming the fight.

McGregor also posted on social media that the fight is official while poking fun at Mayweather's age.

Bob Bennett, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, told ESPN's Dan Rafael that the date was approved by the commission.

"I got a call [Tuesday] night from Mayweather Promotions that they wanted to be put back on the agenda, so I put them back on the agenda," Bennett said. "They pulled the request but then decided to put it back on."

White, Leonard Ellerbe, CEO for Mayweather Promotions, nor Showtime's Stephen Espinoza has yet to comment on the news. McGregor has signed his side of the contract for a while, with Mayweather being the only side yet to do it.

McGregor has not fought since winning the UFC lightweight title from Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden to win a UFC title in two different weight classes. Mayweather has not fought since beating Andre Berto in 2015.

According to the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas, Mayweather is currently a -1100 favorite to beat McGregor, a +700 underdog.
