McGregor Claims Mayweather Won’t Last 2 Rounds With 8 Ounce Gloves

There has been a lot of talk lately by Floyd Mayweather about changing he glove size for his upcoming super fight to 8 ounce gloves.

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor says that if the gloves do get changed to 8 ounce gloves, the legendary boxer won’t last two rounds.

“If we’re eight ounces, I’m struggling to give him two rounds, and that’s the God’s honest truth,” McGregor said at his media workout. “The only reason I maybe give him two rounds is because in this game the referee stops me from pounding his head into the canvas, and he has 10 seconds to recover. That’s the only reason why he might get to the second round.”

It is going to be up to the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) to make the change for the gloves, but only if McGregor and Mayweather’s team petitions them to do so.

Change in gloves or not, the Irishman says Mayweather is already a beaten man.

“I see a beaten man in his eyes, in his body language, in everything he does,” McGregor said.

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
