Michael Bisping Says He's Going To Retire Dan Henderson, But Hendo Is Retiring Anyway

MMA

Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson originally met at UFC 100 in 2009. Henderson won the fight by second round knockout. The memorable moment from the fight was after Bisping was already knocked out and Henderson superman-punching Bisping on the mat.

Since then, Bisping has went on to defeat Anderson Silva and in his last fight, knocked out Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 in June to capture the middleweight championship.

Henderson went on Strikeforce after the first meeting with Bisping. He went on to win the light heavyweight title and moved up to heavyweight and in 2011 knocked out Fedor Emelianenko.

Now, Bisping and Henderson meet again for the middleweight title at UFC 204.

On Friday, both fighters attended a press conference to promote the upcoming event. In discussing the fight, Bisping noted how the former two-division champion in PRIDE was on testosterone replacement therapy when they first met and how he really wants to get revenge this time around.

“As we all know he was cheating, he was on testosterone replacement therapy, but yet he’s still fighting now. He is a marvel of modern science. The guy is cured. His testosterone levels remarkably came back up and he’s able to continue. Him and Vitor Belfort, check these guys out. It’s amazing what their bodies have done.

“Dan Henderson, of course, I want to beat this guy. Dan Henderson couldn’t beat Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson couldn’t win a UFC title. Dan Henderson is famous for one thing: knocking me out at UFC 100. I made your career Dan, and after UFC 204, that will be eradicated.”

Henderson, 46, has stated win, lose or draw, this will be his last fight. "The Count" plans on making sure Henderson sticks to those words

“It will be his last fight for sure,” Bisping said. “Fred Flintstone’s going to get knocked out, Captain Caveman’s going to go into retirement. All good.”

UFC 204 takes place on Oct. 8 from the at Manchester Arena in Bisping's hometown of Manchester, England.
