Mickie James Gets Raw Women's Championship Match At WWE TLC

WWE TLC is three weeks away, and has it's first match -- in championship form no less.

On Monday's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, brand General Manager Kurt Angle granted Mickie James a Raw Women's Championship match against title holder Alexa Bliss at the upcoming WWE TLC show.

The two started a feud recently when Alexa Bliss appeared on the post-No Mercy Raw talk and critcized Mickie James for her age. James was excluded from that night's 5-women title match, and was virtually the only active member of the Raw roster outside of Dana Brooke that was. In storyline, Bliss brought Mickie James back to WWE earlier this year as La Luchadora.

Mickie James isn't without previous title shots in her latest WWE run. She unsuccessfully challenged then-NXT Champion Asuka last year for her title, and also participated in the 6-way Smackdown Women's Championship match at this year's WrestleMania 33.

Mickie James' last WWE Women's Championship win took place at the 2010 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view when she defeated Michelle McCool. However, she would lose the title the next month, and finish up with WWE soon after.

WWE TLC 2017 takes place October 22 from the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Fightful.com will provide full, live coverage and discussion of the show, including a live post-show podcast.
