PBC is ready to return to the Barclays Center in August for a Fox card headlined by undefeated heavyweight contender Adam Kownacki.
On a recent episode of "Inside PBC Boxing," the upcoming summer schedule for July and August was announced and one of the dates is August 3 at the Barclays Center. In the main event, Kownacki will take on former world title challenger Chris Arreola.
Kownacki is coming off a second-round stoppage win against former title challenger Gerald Washington on the January 26 PBC on Fox main card from Brooklyn. The 30-year-old fighter, ranked No. 5 by the WBC, No. 13 by the WBA, No. 4 by the IBF and No. 15 by the WBO, also owns a win over former world champion Charles Martin and title challenger Artur Szpilka.
Arreola is on a two-fight win streak since returning to the ring late last year after being away from the sport for two years. The 38-year-old Arreola has challenged for the WBC heavyweight title three times throughout his career, but was unsuccessful in fights against Deontay Wilder, Bermane Stiverne and Vitali Klitschko. Arreola is coming off a third-round win against Jean Pierre Augustin back on March 16.
Also announced for the August 31 card is Marcus Browne defending his interim WBA light heavyweight title against Jean Pascal. Browne will be defending his title for the first time since winning it in January with a dominant 12-round decision win against Badou Jack.
Lastly, PBC announced that former welterweight world champion Andre Berto will return to the ring for the first time since last August and take on Miguel Cruz. Berto, a former IBF and WBC champion, is coming off a split decision win against Devon Alexander. Cruz, who sports an 18-1 pro record, last fought in January when scored a second-round TKO win against Luis Eduardo Florez.
