Adonis Stevenson In Critical Condition After Knockout Loss To Oleksandr Gvozdyk

Adonis Stevenson is in critical condition after suffering a big knockout loss to Oleksandr Gvozdyk.

The former WBC light heavyweight champion was seriously hurt in the 11th round of his title fight against Gvozdyk. Gvozdyk knocked out the longtime champion and Stevenson nearly was sent out of the ring as the referee waved off the 10 count and immediately ended the fight.

Promoter Yvon Michel wrote on Twitter that Stevenson is currently in a hospital as of 2:36 a.m. ET of December 2 and stated that he is in critical condition.

The 41-year-old Stevenson was knocked out for the second time in his career as a pro with the only other time being back in 2010. Prior to the loss, Stevenson had held the WBC light heavyweight title since 2013, making nine successful title defenses. Fightful will provide updates on Stevenson's condition as more information appears.
