After spending days in a hospital, Adonis Stevenson remains in the intensive care unit in the after his title loss to Oleksandr Gvozdyk.
Dr. Alexis Turgeon, specialist physician in intensive care medicine at Hôpital de l?Enfant-Jésus of the CHU de Québec-Université Laval, shared the latest update, which can be seen below, on Stevenson?s condition.
According to Turgeon, the former WBC light heavyweight champion is suffering from a severe traumatic brain injury. Although his condition is considered stable, it is in a relative sense as it is still a critical time for Stevenson and too early to say anything regarding his long-term prognosis. Turgeon also details what kind of assistance Stevenson is currently going through while he recovers from the injury.
"Mr. Stevenson underwent surgery on the night of Saturday to Sunday and has since been admitted to the intensive care unit. He suffers from severe traumatic brain injury. His situation is still stable under the circumstances, but critical.
His condition requires mechanical respiratory assistance, deep sedation and specialized neurological monitoring. It is too early to comment on Mr. Stevenson?s long-term prognosis.

Stevenson was in a title fight on Showtime against Gvozdyk on December 1 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The 41-year-old Stevenson was knocked out by Gvozdyk in the 11th round of the fight, ending Stevenson?s world title reign. Stevenson was sent to the hospital shortly after the fight.
