There hasn?t been many updates on Souza since the diagnosis, but training partner Alan Patrick says he is doing fine.
?Thank God, Jacare is fine,? Patrick said to MMA Fighting. ?He did all the exams and everything came back negative, so we started training together again this week. I was away from him for four weeks.?
Patrick himself was supposed to be fighting Marc Diakiese at a UFC Fight Night card on July 18, but he wound up being replaced by Rafael Fiziev.
The fighter says the reason he was pulled from the July 18 UFC card was due to a paperwork issue.
?The UFC will move me to another card because the embassies are closed to the pandemic and I can?t get this document,? Patrick said. ?They told me to stay active, they will send me a date and opponent as soon as they decide. I have to stay active and training, and be careful not to get sick.?
No word has been given yet as to when either Souza or Patrick will step back into the Octagon.
