Alejandra Lara competed on the main card of Bellator 235, defeating Veta Arteaga by way of unanimous decision.

A victorious Lara also missed weight for the event and the fighter says an uncalibrated scale is what lead to the miss.

“Maybe I had to adjust better my diet,” Lara said to MMA Junkie. “We’re doing a good weight cut, but my scale was not calibrated. We had short time to adjust, and we’re very sorry. It’s the first time it’s happened, but it’s not going to happen again.”

Lara missed weight for the bout by 0.8 pounds, while Arteaga came in on weight at 125.7 pounds.

Despite missing weight for Bellator 235, one thing that Lara admits is that she got the war that was expected all along.

“It’s what I’ve been working for,” Lara said. “I was expecting a war, and it was that. … I have the surprise factor. In my last fight no one saw my development with my striking and my base. It’s been a half a year since my last fight, so it was a lot of time working on my stance. I think everyone could see that tonight.”

The fighter has now competed five times under the Bellator MMA banner and this is the first time she had missed weight.
