Alexander Gustafsson Still Wants To Fight Jon Jones, Even If He Is On Illegal Substances

MMA

Alexander Gustafsson and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones have clashed once before, with Jones picking up a razor thin decision win at UFC 165.

Jones’ fifteen month suspension from USADA comes to an end this October and Gustafsson would like a rematch, even if Jones uses illegal substances heading into that potential encounter.

“I don’t really care, he can cheat if he wants, I will still put a beating on him,” Gustafsson said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. “It’s all good for me, whatever he wants to do. I know what I have.”

Whenever Jones does return to action, it will mark the first time he has fought since a no contest against two division UFC champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 214.

Gustafsson also wants to fight for a title when he battles Jones, whether its for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title or for the UFC Interim Light Heavyweight Title.

“I think it should be about the real belt, of course. But if it’s for the interim let’s do it, I am up for it, I have no problem either way. I don’t know how it will play out, but for whatever it goes, I am here,” says Gustafsson.

It has also been quite awhile since Gustafsson has fought, with his last bout coming in May of 2017.
