Alistair Overeem Issues Statement On UFC 218 Loss

Alistair Overeem was on the wrong end of a brutal knockout in his co-main event fight against Francis Ngannou at UFC 218.

Ngannou connected with a counter left uppercut that not only landed on Overeem’s chin, but robbed the fighter of his consciousness for a few moments when he crashed to the Octagon canvas.

Overeem has now taken to Twitter to issue a statement after his brutal knockout loss:

Prior to the two colliding in the Octagon, the UFC President in Dana White had stated the the winner of the bout would be getting a shot at UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic. Ngannou will now get that title shot and it should come at a yet to be announced event in 2018.

While Ngannou now moves onto the title shot against Miocic, the victim of the counter left uppercut in Overeem has not announced his future plans at this time.
