Former Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem faces former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum in a rubber match at UFC 213. However, just days before his fight, the heavyweight survived an explosion that happened at the hotel in which he was staying at.
Overeem made light of the situation via Twitter:
Just survived a huge explosion next to my hotel room.. big boom -- & flames --all ok and healthy tho! 5 days out! @UFC pic.twitter.com/HtV2j2PwMu— Alistair Overeem (@Alistairovereem) July 4, 2017

Everybody in the hotel, including Overeem and the firefighters who dealt with the explosion made it out with no injuries.
The heavyweight contender also spoke with the ABQ Journal about the fiasco.
“I heard a big boom,” Overeem said. “I thought it was nothing going on, but one of my teammates came and got me ‘we need to get out of here now.' There was a huge black cloud. It was a little hectic, but I think the situation is under control now.”
