Amanda Serrano To Fight For Seventh Division Title On January 18

Amanda Serrano's quest for another world title will have her go down all the way to super flyweight to make history once more.

It was previously announced that Serrano would attempt to fight for another world title in early 2019 in the first fight of a multi-fight deal with DAZN. Matchroom Boxing formally announced Serrano's fight, her opponent, and the date and location of her quest to become the second boxer in history to win a major world title in seven weight classes.

Serrano will take on Eva Voraberger on January 18, 2019 for the vacant WBO super flyweight title. The fight will take place at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and will be a part of the undercard for Demetrius Andrade's WBO middleweight title defense against Artur Akavov.

The 30-year-old Serrano won a title at a weight classes as light as bantamweight back in 2017 and won the WBO junior welterweight title this past September. Serrano is the only woman and Puerto Rican boxer, regardless of gender, to win a major world title in history across six weight classes. If Serrano wins the WBO super flyweight title, she joins Manny Pacquiao as the only boxers in history to be a world champion in at least seven weight classes.

Voraberger is a 28-year-old boxer from Austria who has been fighting professionally since 2008. After starting her pro career with a 1-2 record, Voraberger would go on to win the IBF flyweight, IBF super flyweight and IBO super flyweight. Voraberger won the interim WBC bantamweight title back in April and most recently, defended her title in October.

The card will also show former lightweight world champion Jorge Linares taking on Pablo Cesar Cano in a junior welterweight bout. Also on the card is former junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri taking on once-beaten Daniel Gonzalez.
