Amir Khan To Fight Neeraj Goyat On July 12 In Saudi Arabia

Amir Khan will be heading to Saudi Arabia for his next fight this summer.

In a press conference, it has been announced that Khan will face Neeraj Goyat on July 12 at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah. The fight has been backed by the WBC and will reportedly be for the newly-created WBC Pearl title.

Unranked UFC Fighters to Watch out for in 2024

Khan has not fought since losing a WBO welterweight title fight against Terence Crawford back in April. The fight was stopped in the sixth round after an accidental shot from Crawford below the belt caused the fight to stop when Khan wasn't able to come out and return fighting. As a result, Crawford was awarded the victory by TKO. Khan previously held the unified WBA and IBF junior welterweight titles and unsuccessfully challenged for the WBC middleweight title in 2016, but was knocked out by Canelo Alvarez.

After being unsuccessful in capturing a win in his first four pro bouts, Goyat would go on to win 11 of his next 12 fights. Goyat, who owns a win over current WBA "Regular" featherweight titleholder Can Xu, won the WBC Asian Boxing Council welterweight title in his seventh fight back in 2015. The 27-year-old Goyat also spent some time as an MMA fighter, winning two fights in 2013.
