Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva was notified by USADA about a potential violation a few months back, which caused the fighter to be pulled from a main event bout against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Fight Night Shanghai.
USADA has yet to issue a punishment to Silva, who has failed a drug test once before in the UFC, but that was during the pre-USADA era.
No matter what kind of potential punishment the former champion receives, one thing the Brazilian wants to ensure the fans is that his career will not end just yet.
Silva shared those thoughts recently on Instagram:
The former middleweight champion has had a rough run in the UFC as of late, only winning one of his last six in the promotion. That lone win came over Derek Brunson at UFC 208, while the losses came to Chris Weidman (twice), Michael Bisping and Daniel Cormier, plus he fought Nick Diaz to a no contest at UFC 183.
If USADA gives Silva the full punishment for a second failed drug test (assuming they are counting the non-USADA failed drug test at UFC 183), fans may not see the Brazilian back in action until 2021.
