Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva suffered a decision loss to Israel Adesanya in the main event of UFC 234.

Silva is targeting his next Octagon appearance and would like that to be a rematch with Nick Diaz at UFC 237.

“Maybe I think it makes sense to fight Diaz in Curitiba,” Silva said after the event (via MMA Junkie). “I’m just waiting for (UFC President) Dana (White), because it’s not time to make the decisions. Hopefully, I’ll fight in Curitiba.”

Diaz and Silva first met at UFC 183, with the fight being overturned to a no contest due to a pair of failed drug tests that involved both fighters. That event also marked the final UFc appearance for Diaz at this point in his professional MMA career.

The former middleweight champion has already spoken to Diaz’s management about the idea of a potential second fight.

“I think it’s a very interesting fight, because the last fight was a no contest,” Silva said. “I talked to Nick’s manager a couple months ago, and Nick said, ‘OK, let’s go do it. Let’s talk to Dana.’ I’m just waiting for Dana.”

UFC fighter Gilbert Melendez recently stated that Nick Diaz is retired, putting a potential end to the rematch for Silva.

A short time after this story was posted, a retired Diaz would take to Instagram Stories to state that he isn't returning to action, saying (via MMA Junkie):

“(Expletive) all this – I don’t want to hurt nobody. I just want to party.”
